2016 - Graduate Show
Underpinning the work is the philosophy of phenomenology, which investigates reality as it is experienced. The artist placed gently familiar symbols in otherworldly settings, playing with the poetic significance of space. Anticipation and possibility are created through openings, paths, movement, suspension and reflection. The use of remnants and humble materials suggest the contemplative uncovering of overlooked space. Dimensionality is created through the combination of flat graphic surfaces, mirrors and delicate sculptural forms, the juxtaposition of miniature and monumental scale.
